A VILLAGE is a four week camp attended by delegations of eleven year old's (two boys and two girls) and an adult leader from each of the ten to twelve nations in attendance. Children selected must be eleven years old at least one day during the Village season (one day between June 1 and August 31, 2018). Part of the selection process is an overnight Mini-Village which all applicants must attend. The Mini-Village will be held from Friday, January 19th at 7:00pm through Sunday, January 21st at 9:00am, at Knapp Elementary School, Michigan City, Indiana.  Your child will be asked to bring a food item which will be discussed later. There is a cost of $20.00 to cover a t-shirt and miscellaneous costs for the weekend. It is due when your child arrives.  Also required is a parent or guardian attending either one of two meetings – 7:00pm Friday night or 9:00am Sunday morning at Knapp School.

Interchange: for ages 12-13

This is an exchange program where your child will alternately host a delegate from another country and in turn will then travel to that country to live with that child and their family.  They travel in a group called a delegation, typically 6 delegates (3 boys/3 girls) and an adult leader, but live with families while in country.  Interchange activities allow participants to immerse themselves in the culture of the country they are paired with. They learn to work together to understand how alike people are despite their cultural differences.

This year, we're sending a delegation to:

Padua, Italy (age 12-13 ) June 29- July 29 (2 weeks hosting, 2 weeks traveling)

If you have questions on the Interchange program, please contact Kathy Gibson, 630-479-1092 or kasiats.nrg@gmail.com .  She can get an application directly to you.

Making friends isn't always easy with people who are "different." But when you share so many moments... eating, doing activities and singing together, you realize we're all kind of the same. Now I can say I have friends all over the world and I have a more "global" perspective!
